The last few weeks. . .

I have mostly been sat in Firebug drinking cider and (sometimes) doing work.

Recently I have designed a teeshirt for Cookie West which is an independent lingerie store in Leicester.

The teeshirts are going to be used from promotional events such as catwalk shows and also for when the Cookie West time do the Race for Life on the 6th July, 2.30pm, Western Park, Leicester.

People should come down to see these lovely teeshirts and also my literally crawling as i try to jog 3miles, i've heard rumours of cider at the finish line though so i have that to keep me going ;)

Also if anyone fancies sponsoring me for what is a fantastic cause then they can right here . . .

In the next few weeks I am designing a teeshirt for Death of London to follow up the cd cover that i designed for them. (I'll put some images up once their e.p is released)

I am also working on some images mostly for fun but also for my portfolio.

Lastly, now i'm earning some dollar i will finally get all the random rolls of film i have lying in my draw developed and i will post them on here.

bye bye xx

i love the Berlin Wall

Today whilst doing some research on future photography projects on Berlin i came across this website:

http://www.berlinermauer.se

It's a website about a woman's sexual love for the Berlin Wall. she calls him her husband. its pretty weird.

I may do a photography project on it though. More excuses to go to Berlin.

This Is A Ghost Town . . .

This is a preview of my current self promotion.
Because most of my work is based on found items, this set of promotion has taken imagery from a 70's houseplant book that i found in a charity shop in Leicester.
I have made a set of 5 for now and will change the background every few months, or whenever i find something more interesting to use.
I created the type myself, tried to keep it handmade and simple.

Ost Berlin

Heres a few page spreads from my book on life in east(ost) Berlin. Decided the keep the info to a minimum so i just included the locations. I made two books and each one has three chapters:
Book one: Home, Daily Life and Leisure
Book two: Cold War, Buildings and the Wall

Circus Freaks

So here are a couple of images from a victorian style book I made on circus freaks. I made the images using lino printing as i like the simplicity and boldness. In regards to the type, I referenced old victorian illustration books and used a similar typeface in my book.

Just a quick update . . .

. . . Trying to pass uni has been taking up most of my time recently so I haven't had a chance to update this so here is a summary of what's been going on:

I went to Berlin (again)
Discovered Berliner Piltz bier for 40c a bottle, generous Italian punks, and amazing pizza (ein margerita mit zwiebeln bitte.)
Visited more fleamarkets there again and found another euro cam! it has a panoramic lenses (euro pan, ha) so hopefully when i finally get my photos developed i should have some nice and wide shots.

In regards to uni I have been slaving away at images of circus freaks and berlin, which sounds great until its 4am and you forgot the last time you ate, slept or didn't look at your computer.
I'll put a couple of book spreads up later . . .

I've also been working on my exhibition which is the 13th June, 10th floor fletcher building, I'll post a sneak preview abit later but its looking pretty good, mainly thanks to people donating furniture and a helping hand to me.

Finally, I'm going to Zante on friday, I'm still not even sure where it is but i know it'll be hot, the alcohol will be free and I will be there with my amazing friends :) I'm hoping to explore the Island abit so hopefully I'll post up some photos and sketches when I get back.

I think thats a long enough summary . . .

A Softer World

I realised whilst looking through my blog today that i post alot of photos but don't really say what i'm actually doing with them.

For my Final Negotiated Project i am doing a photographic journey of Everyday life in Ost Berlin. I'm hoping the outcome of this will be a book and possibly an exhibition.

My good friend Owen showed me a website called A Softer World a few months back and its inspired me ever since. This site is always in the back of my mind when i'm developing my book so hopefully that gives you an insight into my final piece.

I'll hopefully put some development work and experiments soon.

"Ich Bin Ein Berliner"

"I Am A Doughnut"

1 euro camera

Whilst in Berlin i went to a second hand store in Friedrichshain and found a box of old cameras. I bought a camera that looks like its from the early nighties for 1 euro but didn't really expect it to work. Clearly the Soviets knew a thing or two about producing cameras because this is the best camera i have ever owned. I teamed it up with some cheap expired 400iso film for the results below. check it:

Sleep all day . . . Drink the life away

I've come to the conclusion that i probably need to get some soup, sit in an office and sort my life out. Oh, and whistle more.

So i figured . . .

. . . i haven't updated this in a while.
Went to Berlin for a project entitled "Life in the East," this mainly involved taking photos of everyday life in East Berlin and consuming large quantities of beer and veggie burgers. Good times.

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to uploading photos so heres a few i particularly enjoy:

These were taken on an actionsampler camera and a holga k200 camera.
